IT Engineer

4 Weeks Contract

Based In Manchester

Day rate negotiable

The IT Engineer will provide a proficient IM & T support services across the customer base. The post holder will be involved in the installation, configuration and maintenance of end user equipment, systems and software, and assisting with local data centre and communications technology requirements. Duties will also include being involved in testing and supporting deployment activities that require IT engineering resource. The IT Engineer will have diagnostic and fault finding knowledge/skills and a broad range of IT knowledge.

  • Experience of supporting a broad range IT equipment and services including desktops, printers and server room environments/processes.

  • Understanding and experience of working with LAN and WAN technologies and network topologies

  • 2nd Line experience

  • Broad knowledge of IT including end user equipment, systems and software.

  • Experience of working as an IT engineer including field work.

  • Knowledge of server, storage, backup, communications, LAN and WAN technologies.

  • Knowledge of network Installations, cabling using Switches, Router and patch panels.

  • ITIL Foundation

  • Ensure incidents are responded to and resolved in accordance with customer Service Levels Agreements and service requirements wherever possible.

  • Investigate and manage problems with end user devices, software and systems. Assist with local server room and communications technology problems.

  • Diagnostic tools for supporting the identification and rectification of IT issues

  • Work efficiently and effectively with other team members to resolve any issues or problems and to provide a responsive and good quality customer service

  • Keep the service desk updated on the status and progress of incidents/jobs logged, including faults found and actions taken to address issues. Identify and notify Service Management of any potential problems as soon as recognised, including any issues that may result in SLA breaches.

  • Support local backup processes and procedures.

  • Support testing and deployment activities to support wider IM&T requirements.

  • Participate in an IM & T on call rota
