The Role

To manage the Corporation Financial Accounting team including producing monthly management accounts and statutory accounts and overseeing the consolidation of overseas accounting returns.

What Will You Do?

  • Day to day management of the financial reporting of the Corporation, including the published Annual Report and Interim Report.
  • Provide support to the Senior Manager to ensure compliance with regulatory and technical requirements.
  • Overseeing the consolidation of monthly results submissions from overseas offices, reviewing for quality and ensuring compliance with monthly reporting timetable and Corporation accounting policies.
  • Review and manage application of accounting standards and policies for the Corporation and its subsidiaries, preparing draft accounting policy notes and documentation as needed.
  • Manage the day to day operation of the financial reporting team to create a culture of analytical review, understanding of results and proactive identification of issues.
  • Liaison with stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of the financial accounting and reporting process.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory reporting requirements, carrying out detailed reviews of the Corporation Financial Statements as well as statutory accounts of various subsidiary companies and other entities ensuring that information provided is accurate and provided within filing requirements;
  • To assist in maintaining an effective control environment, review the conformity and compliance of internal controls, including balance sheet reconciliations and overseas reporting processes, and advise on improvements;
  • Provide assistance to both internal and external auditors as and when required ensuring that audit points are implemented and Embedded in a timely manner.

What You'll Need

  • Accountant with a formal qualification.
  • Possesses experience of financial reporting within an international, complex business.
  • Possess strong analytical skills, together with a strong accounting/control background.
  • Experience in a Group Head Office function within an operating environment with a reputable organisation; credible and able to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Significant experience gained at senior level
  • Strong influencing & stakeholder management skills, including interacting with overseas operations and cultures
  • Ability to understand, analyse and explain complex data sets
  • Strong analytical review & evaluation skills
  • Accountancy: IFRS, UKGAAP and regulatory reporting
  • Ability to interpret legal advice & take appropriate practical actions
  • Ability to plan and deliver on outcomes within strictly enforced reporting deadlines
  • Knowledge of best practice accountancy & governance principles
  • Knowledge of relevant legal & regulatory requirements both UK and International
  • Knowledge of UK and International accounting standards as applicable to financial services and insurance organisations
