Description

We currently have a 1 year maternity cover contract opportunity for a technically strong accounting professional with a proven track record in the field of accounting policy research and interpretation. The role, within a global asset manager, offers the successful candidate the opportunity to contribute to a range of projects that are of strategic importance to the firm which will raise the candidate's profile externally through exposure to numerous industry groups, standard setters and legislators.

Based in Edinburgh but with a global reach, this position will be responsible for resolving technical accounting queries raised by other teams within Finance or the wider business and "horizon-scanning" to ensure the business is fully prepared for upcoming changes to the financial reporting, technical accounting landscape. As such, candidates will be expected to be able to demonstrate significant capability when it comes to assessing impact, communicating identified issues to those affected within the business and helping to formulate appropriate responses.

You will be a part of a number of in-house forums who specialise in these areas and will be expected to play a key role in the development of technical solutions.

Key technical skills required include an in-depth knowledge of;

Various elements of IFRS such as; Lease Accounting, Financial Instruments, Fair Value Accounting etc.
US GAAP

Regulatory Capital.

In addition, strong report writing skills are essential as you will be responsible for the presentation of key reports to ensure the full range of stakeholders are kept up to date with the various technical accounting developments impacting their teams/functions.
