Description

Our client, a major provider of IT services, has a fantastic opportunity for a Network Engineer providing onsite client support. This is a 12 month temporary position based in Cork, Ireland.

You will be working in the Network service team who are responsible for providing network infrastructure and network services. Your two main focuses will be to provide ongoing support on the network related incidents and also be a part of projects deployed in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide network operations incident management support for the network infrastructure and network services.
  • Perform troubleshooting analysis, isolation and resolution of events and incidents
  • Provide problem management and perform Root Cause Analysis.
  • Experience diagnosing complex issues through packet capture analysis (Wireshark, snoop)
  • Work as part of an EMEIA team that actions tickets remotely at all Client sites across the region
  • Manage the hardware repair process onsite, liaising with our offsite hardware repair service providers
  • Support onsite events throughout the year from an IT perspective, including out of hours communication meetings
  • Be an active and innovative team member, contributing to development and effectiveness, and undertaking other tasks as required
  • Establish effective communication and improve user workflows
  • Stay abreast of advances in technology
  • Recommend improvements in technology (hardware and software upgrades)
  • Recommend and assist in the evaluation of new techniques and tools to improve the efficiency and effectiveness

Key Skills Required:

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. Fluency in English.
  • Time management, proactive, analytical & troubleshooting skills
  • Advanced knowledge of LAN, WAN & WLAN including TCP/IP, MPLS, VPN, VLANS etc.
  • Experience diagnosing complex issues through packet capture analysis (Wireshark, snoop)
  • Layer 2 and layer 3 switching and routing
  • Hands-on Switching technology stacking, VSS, VPCs, Cisco Nexus 5K,3K, etc.
  • Routing: Protocols TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF and EIGRP.
  • Security: Cisco ASA, Juniper SRXs/SSGs, Palo Alto Firewalls
  • Wireless: Setting up new WLAN, Wi-Fi Tuning, New Access Points installation, WLC setups.

Experience required:

  • Good experience working on different vendor networking equipment and networking technologies such as switching, routing, security, wireless.
  • Certifications completed at associate or professional levels.
  • Should have worked as a team member before and have delivered projects, sites as per the plan.
  • Documented the deployment plans and shared across team members.
