Description

As a Senior Network Engineer in the DC Connect service group, you will be responsible for research, design, engineering, implementation and identifying continuous enhancement opportunities of various network services across the global environment. These services and related offerings are based on solutions supported by various networking products, technologies from industry leading and innovative vendors across Data Center, Cloud, WAN, Campus and Branch Office environments. Additionally you will provide consulting services to other IT teams, and act as a level four escalation point for operational issues.

Certifications Desired:
Industry accreditation desirable (Examples: MTA, MCSA, MCSE, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, CCNP, CCIE).
ITIL Foundation certification.
Qualifications
A degree in Computer Science/Engineering or a related discipline, plus industry accreditation or equivalent work experience.
Substantial, extensive and demonstrated experience in various aspects of technology infrastructure design and implementation, with tangible, relevant and demonstrated experience in delivering projects within scope and budget.
10+ years in an engineering function which includes at least 3 years of experience with research, evaluation, and designing of DC technologies, Cloud Computing, SDN technologies, Automation and DevOps solutions as it relates to networking.
Knowledge
Advanced skills in planning, designing and troubleshooting complex network environments.
First-hand knowledge and experience in designing network related aspects of Data Center for large scale enterprise environments, Public cloud, Cloud Exchanges and future proof Private Cloud solutions.
Core expert knowledge into Data Center products and solutions (Nexus 7K/5K/2K, Catalyst 6/4/3K, VPC, Fabricpath, FCoE, OTV etc.), routing protocols and features (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VXLAN, BGP-EVPN etc.), multi-vendor environments (Cisco, Arista, Dell etc.)
Proficiency into Load Balancing technologies (Citrix, F5 etc.), DNS (Bind, Bluecoat etc.), DC integration with WAN optimisation (Riverbed, WAAS etc.) and security solutions (FW, IDS, IPS).
Foundation into open networking technologies (openflow, openstack, virtualisation, docker etc.)
Knowledge and operational understanding of technologies used for building cloud services, Linux, OpenStack, containers, REST API, JSON-RPC, Virtualization, and Databases especially as it relates to Cloud Service Providers, Private Clouds and Datacentre infrastructure.
Proficiency on Linux and one or more Scripting languages (Python, Perl, TCL, Shell) with focus on networking. (Python experience is a plus)
Knowledge of DevOps fundamentals including automation frameworks such as Ansible, Puppet & Chef
Thorough understanding of SDN market and value proposition.
Experience in designing and implementing enterprise network solutions in data centre and branch office environments including routing, switching and wireless LAN technologies application networking and delivery technologies (data centre server and global load balancing solutions) WAN, Internet connectivity & related technologies (SD-WAN, MPLS, IPSEC VPN, WAN Optimizers, Rate Limiters, QoS, etc.) Infrastructure Services (DNS, DHCP and Active Directory) Network Monitoring & Management Platforms (Monitoring - Operations, Management - Data Network Domain).
Exposure to various facets of converged data center and branch office build-out including planning, designing and implementation of facilities and structured cabling solutions.
First-hand knowledge in designing network solutions to enable integration of VMWare, blade, cloud and converged network environments.
Experience in evaluating, designing and implementing multi-vendor global WAN networks for integrated (voice, video, data) traffic using various connectivity means including SD-WAN, MPLS, IPSEC VPN and others.
Knowledge of various perimeter security solutions technologies in the data center and branch office environments including Firewalls, remote access VPNs, IPS/IDS systems and Secure Web Gateway solutions is desirable.
Strong ability to document processes, procedures and network designs clearly and accurately for distribution to internal teams and customers.
Maintain awareness of new and emerging technologies and the potential infrastructure service offerings and products provided by the industry.
Understanding of other technologies required to run an enterprise level infrastructure.

Experience
Substantial, extensive and demonstrated experience in various aspects of technology infrastructure design and implementation, with tangible, relevant and demonstrated experience in delivering projects within scope and budget.
Experience in a high-volume or critical production service environment.
Demonstrated experience in dealing with external vendors and suppliers in the network industry.
Demonstrated skills in developing actionable roadmaps and implementing these efficiently,
Strong experience in network and systems security, not only a key understanding of overall concepts, but also the ability to implement policies, processes and develop solutions to network and security problems.
Proven ability to understand infrastructure requirements and translate them into solutions including developing designs, device configurations, IP Addressing and switch port schema, providing solutions and support to various cross-functional teams.
Good understanding of key performance indicators relevant for the role.
An overall understanding of the business objectives of Service Lines and Core Business Services departments.

Work with the ITIL methodology in the area of process engineering
Work with IT services or technology product companies or as vendor manager or procurement manager
