Contract - Group Data Privacy Officer

FTSE 100 company

6 month contract

Central London

My client a multinational FTSE 100 organisation is looking for an experienced Data Protection Officer to join them.

This role is required to support with the upcoming GDPR along with changes globally. My client operates on an International/Global level and as such is looking for someone with global experience.

The DPO will be responsible for setting adequate standards (within Europe and the rest of the world), advising on complex Data Privacy decisions. Enhance the Privacy function within the organisation. The business has plans to embed Privacy by Design and this role will be key in helping them achieve this.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide information, advice and issue recommendations to the Group, and act as Subject Matter Expert
  • Foster a data protection culture within the organisation and help to implement essential elements of Data protections, such as the principles of data processing, data subjects' rights, data protection by design and by default, records of processing activities, security of processing, and notification and communication of data breaches
  • Advise the business regarding:
    • Whether or not to carry out a data protection impact assessment
    • What methodology to follow when carrying out a DPIA
    • What safeguards (including technical and organisational measures) to apply to mitigate any risks to the rights and interests of the data subjects
    • Whether or not the DPIA has been correctly carried out and whether its conclusions (whether or not to go ahead with the processing and what safeguards to apply) are in compliance with the GDPR
  • Maintain the record of processing operations under the responsibility of the controller as one of the tools enabling compliance monitoring, informing and advising the controller or the processor;
  • Document all decisions and processes.

You will be an experienced and proactive Data Protection/Data Privacy Manager with strong experience implementing new policies across global business units. You will have great stakeholder management skills and look to contribute to the success of the business. A key part of this role will be liaising with the various business units and the ability to educate other employees on the importance of Data Privacy.

This client requires someone to be immediately available for a long term contract role.
