Description
Purpose of the Role
The Financial controller for our client is responsible predominantly for the management unit and practice operations within the division. Production of the consolidated ADS&T accounts along with appropriate commentary and reporting. The role reports directly to the Senior Financial Controller.
Requirements
A qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent) with some post qualified experience
Detailed knowledge of Atkins' finance processes, standards and systems (JDE & Hyperion Financial Management)
The role will require some travel within the UK
Responsibilities
* Consolidation of the division's results, budgets and forecasts, including central Hyperion reporting
* Oversee management accounts, budgets and quarterly forecasts, along with commentaries & associated reporting
* Overhead control
* Monthly: Consolidation of Flash reporting, divisional cash flow forecasting, major project analysis and balance sheet reconciliations
* Quarterly: Consolidate and manage balance sheet strength, FX Cash flow, pay cost reconciliations and reporting for quarterly business reviews
* Monitoring, analysis and reporting on staff resources, including productivity & utilisation
* Finance support relating to divisional and practice-related investments
* Property accounting management
* Supervision and line management of junior staff
* Ad hoc projects and support to the senior financial controller
Competencies
* Strong technical accounting skills & knowledge
* Commercial awareness and business understanding
* Strong Excel skills (to advanced level including pivot tables, look-ups and macros)
* Broad understanding of tax and compliance matters
* Strong people skills; comfortable in interacting with operational and financial staff and management at all levels of seniority
* Well-developed communication and influencing skills
* Collaborative approach
