Non Acute Finance Manager - NHS - 6 months - £350 inside IR35

You will support the MDT Lead in the financial management and reporting of Non Acute Commissioning budgets. This includes Mental Health, Community Services, Continuing Health Care, Primary Care and other services. The post holder will be the key finance contact for a number of assigned non-acute contracts. Key responsibilities will include providing support to the non-acute commissioning teams in both the annual contracting round and in-year contract management for the assigned contracts.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist the MDT Team in developing forecasts of non-acute spend to enable robust in year financial management and reporting and to feed into strategic plans.
  • Lead financial management and reporting for those contracts for which the post holder is the lead finance contact.
  • Participate in negotiations with Non Acute Providers, assisting and supporting the Non Acute Finance Lead with the finance input to contracts.
  • Monitor Contract and SLA performances against planned targets, assess material financial risks and recommend option proposals where appropriate and provide reconciliations.
  • Assess the on-going financial risk to non-acute spend on a monthly basis. Maintain continuous contact with the financial management team to discuss material risks.
  • Propose and discuss appropriate action to minimise such risks.
  • Provide working papers for aspects of the monthly and annual reporting
  • Provide highly complex advice and financial forecasting to a range of stakeholders.
  • Analyse data to assist with the calculation of year end and month-end accruals; and reconcile accounts as required.
  • Query discrepancies with budget holders as appropriate
  • Assist in budget setting and forecasts
  • Assist in the quarterly balances exercise and returns
  • Work within the Finance department and contribute to the development of the team across the CSU whilst improving and developing departmental policy and procedure.

Experience

  • CCAB qualified
  • Significant experience of working in finance as a management accountant
  • Knowledge and understanding of the healthcare environment in the UK and in particular London.
  • Practical experience of the relationship between purchaser and provider
  • Experience of using computerised financial systems/excel/word
  • Up to date knowledge of financial policy
  • Awareness of social, political, financial and business issues affecting the NHS
  • Expert knowledge of PbR rules and their application
