Platform Engineering Squad Manager - Pudsey - £500 - £550 Per Day - 9 Months
My high profile banking client requires a Platform Engineering Squad Manager to join their team based in Pudsey on a 9 month contract.

Group CIO has started a journey on agile methods for the delivery of all programmes and initiatives for the Bank and brings this to life in the newly formed Engineering & Transformation function. Whilst responding to the day to day delivery pressures in the organisation Group CIO also needs to position itself to meet the future demands of the bank for cost efficient, reliable and secure infrastructure services and outstanding efficiency, effectiveness and transparency.
As part of this strategy the redesign of the Target Operating Model (TOM) includes the provision of a new team - the Group CIO Engineering & Transformation Platform Engineering team. The team are responsible for the technology and operating strategy for cloud platforms and core infrastructure technologies: such as server and storage hardware, server OS, Middleware, databases etc.
This role, Squad Manager, Platform Engineering will report into the Senior Manager of Platform Engineering as a key direct report.
Responsible for developing, instilling, managing and handling the engineering requests and requirements to deliver the journeys required to fulfil the transformation of Group CIO and the broader engineering for the bank.
The post holder will have a proven track record in Group CIO at process design, process improvement, people development and embedding of cultural change and the development and sustaining of high performance teams. A working knowledge of agile would be beneficial.
Essential to the success of the role will be the ability to engage multiple stakeholders, to gain advocacy and cooperation for the delivery of Group CIO wide agendas and to take staff on the journey.
Key responsibilities:
Support the running of the Platform Engineering team working across both Group CIO and directly in Engineering & transformation which includes the following activities:
Develop with Strategy, AM&I technology strategy roadmap for owned technologies and platforms
Deliver platform engineering around Public and Private Cloud Platforms (covering Aurora, Azure, AWS)
Engineering of Server OS & MW builds, and associated infrastructure as code to configure and deploy on cloud platforms including: Windows Server, Redhat Linux, AIX, Solaris, x86 & midrange Servers, Oracle, SQL Server, WebSphere, Docker containers.
Work with strategy to Establish Active-Dynamic Engineering Buy Sell Hold Processes Engineering relationship and activities
Ensuring Group CIO engineering relationship is working effectively.
Enrich all requests and ensure the correct approach ie engineering improvement or tower based is applied to all work
Required skills & experience:
Excellent stakeholder management at all levels
Cloud Platforms experience (covering Aurora, Azure, AWS)
Infrastructure knowledge
Self-starter
Proven track record of leading SME's to delivery by directing and supporting them after development
Excellent understanding of Design and Architecture
Financial services/banking background desirable but not essential
