Description

You will have experience working at a consultancy and or within a Tier 1 global bank in UK/Europe, This is an advisory and strategic role as well as, when necessary being able to be hands on, to help the client achieve their business aims by providing domain, architectural, and delivery expertise. The Payments Architects are trusted individuals that leverage their experience from a payments specialist or advisory firm who can respectively converse with the worlds of business and technology. You will have an extensive track record of building sustainable relationships with clients based on the quality of your work. You will be working onsite with banking clients, in London, UK and some European Banks.

Demonstrate the ability to articulate complex payments requirements, from regulatory changes, like Open Banking, PSD2 and to architect, design and estimate solutions to address them, and ensure these are achievable within the client's environment.

You will be able to see the bigger picture and drive it through to delivery. You will have an understanding of governance, experience in system integration, and the ability to frame and deliver a compelling argument.

You will be confident and be able to provide examples of previous complex projects, including communicating with business and management stakeholders and providing clarity on the complicated domain and technological issues.

Architecturally, the role requires both solution architecture skills, and the ability to apply them in a business and technology context. You'll understand the formal deliverables and steps for the solution architecture in general, but you'll also have enough domain and technology background to apply those steps in a relevant and outcome-focused way.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development of payments strategies, roadmaps and transformation programmes
  • Translating business requirements into technical solution designs, which may include contextual, conceptual, logical and physical views of the architecture.
  • Payments Architects should be able to lead or contribute significantly to the overall technical architecture
  • Develop solution architectures to meet requirements, both functional and non-functional, components and bespoke solutions development as appropriate,
  • Conducting solution architecture reviews of existing systems or in-flight projects, and communicating the findings of the review back to stakeholders;
  • Experienced Technical Design Authority, leading projects and programmes and helping them deliver Payment solutions that conform to to industry standards and best practices
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills to develop and identify further opportunities for expanding the client banks by understanding the wider projects and roadmaps

Skills & Experience:

  • Banking Payment solutions, or capital markets in areas such as Europe (SCT Inst) PSD2, EBA Clearing, CLS, BACS, Faster Payments, SEPA, SWIFT and mobile payments. It is expected that architects will have deep technical knowledge in at least one of these core areas
  • A detailed knowledge of the Payments Value Chain
  • Able articulate the functional and technical differences between: SWIFT, ACH, GIRO, Bacs, CHIPS and CHAPS
  • The ability to communicate efficiently upwards up to and including CxO level
  • The ability to communicate with project teams, including product manager and PMO/PMs for the integration and delivery of complex payments solutions for Real Time transaction processing, within core banking solutions.
  • Familiarity with technology concepts, roles, and terminology, and the ability to work closely with application architects and modelers
  • The ability to serve as a credible and active participant in events, expos, leading architecture groups, steering committees, and working groups/forums
