We currently have a vacancy for one Network Engineer (focus on Palo Alto and/or Checkpoint Firewall) to offer his/her services within a Financial organisation (client) in Luxembourg to start ASAP a 6 months (initial) in an EN-speaking environment.

Extensions are possible. Our client is an international Financial service provider and a great reference in any CV.

Team Overview

Global IT Infrastructure is responsible for running all aspects of Infrastructure for our Client globally. We have representative support personnel in most global offices, but the bulk of architecture & engineering happens in London, Singapore & New York. Historically the teams have been quite silo'd, not considering themselves as one global team. This has now changed with the creation of a global Infrastructure strategy. As such this has opened up several new global roles.

Overview of role

The security of our network is paramount. This individual will play a key role working on the global security model to satisfy global infrastructure and Information Security needs in a demanding and challenging space. This role has responsibility for Firewall design, implementation, documentation, and last line troubleshooting. It will require specialist product knowledge, and the ability to quickly understand problems that need to be remediated. We expect the engineer to challenge current designs and ensure our security model is highly available, throughput is at a maximum and performance is at a maximum. Global travel to assist with project delivery should be expected. This role will work very closely with the Global Comms and Security teams to ensure infrastructure provides the best service possible. This role has been created as part of the globalisation of the infrastructure teams & technologies for our Client. This role will build, design, test and deliver the strategy provided by the technical authority for this vertical.They will be responsible for the globally delivery and travel to the regions will be potentially required from time to time.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Head of Comms/Network Engineering and various technical Network leaders to deliver strategic goals.
  • Engage on all security based procurement activities.
  • Design, build and test the global security platforms.
  • Ensure global standards are developed and maintained.
  • Produces and interprets network security reports.
  • Subject Matter Expert responsibility for the security estate covering Firewalls, network equipment, remote access equipment, HSMs, IDS/IPS and Wireless equipment across the estate.
  • This will include last line support activity.
  • Mentors global network engineers on security technology and security best practice.
  • Ensure a smooth migration of the estate to the new data centers.
  • Maintain high-levels of uptime across the entire Firewall estate.
  • Communicates security plans, status and security issues to management on a regular basis.
  • Escalation point for security issues within infrastructure.

Skills & Experience

  • In-depth knowledge of Palo Alto and/or Checkpoint Firewall product set and management systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of Cisco video conferencing
  • In depth knowledge of network security including Wifi.
  • In-depth knowledge of network protocols and the means to secure them.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of security monitoring, traffic capture and analysis.
  • In depth knowledge of remote access systems.
  • Good knowledge of technologies such as IDS/IPS, security monitoring systems and HSMs.
  • Good knowledge of emerging Intelligent Building open protocols.
  • Knowledge of SDN and automation.
  • Strong analytical skills.

General skills

  • Have a history of working in a mission-critical environment.
  • Experienced in operational datacenter deployments and green field sites.
  • Understand the importance of metrics & statistics when measuring the performance & capacity.
  • Continuously updates and improves skills and security knowledge through training and self-study.
