SQL Developer - Leeds - Contract - 6 months - Competitive Day Rate

Due to an urgent requirement we are looking for an experienced SQL Developer based in Leeds to build a brand new Enterprise Level Data Warehouse.

Experience required:

  • Extensive SQL experience from
  • SSIS, SSRS, SSAS
  • Experience of dimensional modelling and ETL best practice (Kimball Methodology preferred)
  • Strong understanding and experience of both waterfall and agile development methodologies
  • Experience writing formal design and functional specifications
  • Experience in constructing complex data marts

The main duties and responsibilities are:

  • Manage the architecture, design, development and delivery of major new elements and enhancements to the data warehouse.
  • Setting and implementing data warehouse strategy, standards and processes to align with the Business Intelligence strategy.
  • Governance of data warehouse processes and data in line with regulatory requirements and policies
  • Create new and maintain existing ETL processes and reporting outputs using the Microsoft SQL Server stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS)
  • Design and build new data marts to meet requirements
  • Provide technical leadership and line management to the BI Development team
  • Plan, prioritise and monitor team workload, ensuring effective utilisation of available skills and knowledge.
  • Provide effective and timely support in requests for ad hoc data extracts, analysis and new reporting requirements
  • Proactively manage the data warehouse to improve reliability, availability, recoverability and performance
  • Provide quality assurance by carrying out regular data integrity checks and investigating/resolving anomalies.
  • Work across the business functions to understand, gather and specify data, analysis and reporting requirements and carry these requirements through to quality, fit-for-purpose solutions
  • Represent BI on companywide projects and lead technical discussions on how to achieve the BI deliverables
  • Liaise with IT and Operations to ensure changes to processes and source systems are reflected in the data warehouse
  • Write BI project life cycle documentation for new and existing data warehouse developments.
  • Write, review and update technical documentation and data dictionaries
  • Develop relevant goals for the team in line with departmental strategy and regularly review performance against these
  • Take responsibility for own personal development
