Description

The Senior Python Developer will be working within the Technology SDIL + CNO Network Ops teams.

Main responsibility of position is the deployment of service monitoring solutions for technology services (Video, Connectivity, B2B) and developing the code for the integration between Cisco NSO and Observer.

Also responsible for creating user information solutions by developing, implementing, and maintaining platform-based components and interfaces, including Dotnet, Java, Linux, Unix, Oracle, or SAP.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in IT or other technical studies; specialization in at least one of Dotnet, Java, Linux, Unix, Oracle, or SAP; certifications ideal (eg, SAP certification)

Skills and Competencies:

Experience in PL/SQL, Perl/Python, one of Unix/Java/Linux Scripting or other BI programming language; experience in single or multiple databases such as Oracle, SAP, SQL Server or Sybase

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Defines objectives by analysing user requirements; envisioning system features and functionality.
  • Designs and develops user interfaces to Internet/Intranet applications by setting expectations and features priorities throughout development life cycle; determining design methodologies and tool sets; completing programming using languages and software products; designing and conducting tests.
  • Recommends system solutions by comparing advantages and disadvantages of custom development and purchase alternatives.
  • Integrates applications by designing database architecture and server Scripting; studying and establishing connectivity with network systems, search engines, and information Servers.
  • Creates multimedia applications by using authoring tools.
  • Completes applications development by coordinating requirements, schedules, activities; contributing to team meetings; troubleshooting development and production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms.
  • Supports users by developing documentation and assistance tools

  • Basic Networking knowledge including. OSI model. IP and MAC addressing. Routing protocols 3. General
  • Provide support to the Network Operations team to introduce more automation and improve their day - to - day tasks by reducing repetitive work
  • Ensure relevant processes are followed (Problem resolution, Change control and others)
  • Follow the change and Incident Management process

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience with Python Software development with 2+ years of experience in Flask or Django
  • PHP/Perl/Ruby/JavaScript knowledge is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience in building user interfaces with Angular.js
  • SQL and no - SQL DB experience (MySQL, Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Neo4J)
  • Experience with Ansible, Vagrant, configuration management
  • Testing code with unittest, mock, pytest
  • Experience in the telecom industry, with systems support, design or implement ation related roles
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Able to work within a multicultural team of engineers
  • Good interpersonal skills, able communicator, highly autonomous

  • Availability of network and connectivity can be measured by number of incidents arising from unavailability of network connectivity before and after introduction of new tools
  • Performance, resiliency and stability of the network
  • Timely implement projects
