Job Purpose
The main purpose of this role is to lead a team of Fixed Asset accountants who are responsible for:
- maintaining the Fixed Asset Register, relevant General Ledger accounts and providing management reporting to stakeholders including Finance Business Partners.
- maintaining the Fixed Asset Register and General Ledger in line with accounting policies and control framework. This
- including ensuring the integrity of data flows from interfaced systems, transaction processing, month end close activities, balance sheet and other reconciliations, chart of account maintenance.
This role will also include the production and review of management information relating to capex including actuals, budget and forecasts.
The team will be made up of up to seven Fixed Asset accountants
Key Accountabilities
The key accountabilities of this role are:
- Management of the Fixed Asset Register to ensure information recorded and reported is timely, accurate and in line with accounting policies
- Ensuring that Fixed Asset transactions are completed on a timely and accurate basis
- Management of the Fixed Asset close cycle at month and year end
- Maintenance of the Chart of accounts relating to Fixed Assets plus other standing data including cost centres, profit centres and WBS elements
- Capex Cash flow forecasting
- Balance sheet reconciliations including FAR/GL reconciliation and control accounts
- Proactively support the implementation of Fixed Asset accounting policies and systems changes relating to Fixed assets.
- Maintenenance, support and development of SOX Controls and testing
The role also includes a number of reporting responsibilities including:
- Leading on month end reporting activities:
- ensuring reporting reflects and presents both Capex and Opex performance.
- Challenge and review monthly actuals, forecasts and budget variances
- Understand accounting treatment of fixed assets
- Challenge balance sheet movements
- Lead on quarterly rolling forecast process
- Develop robust reporting to ensure quarterly forecast movements are tracked and documented
- Provide and support reporting activities throughout process including guidance to stakeholders in order to consolidate accurately and robustly
- Leading on interim and full year audits
o Point of contact for Deloitte
o Answer queries and liaise with the wider Finance function
- QAR Production
o Central point of contact for Capex and support functions including IS and property.
- Provide support for RRP, annual and interim reporting
- Ad Hoc Reporting including
- Ad-hoc Finance Business Partner queries
- Network Output Measures analysis (NOMs)
- Return on Equity reporting (RoE)
