My client are one of the UK's leading housing providers and are looking for an External Communications Manager to join their team on a 2 month interim contract.

The key purpose of the role is to promote and protect the reputation of the company by leading on external/corporate communications activities.

You will be responsible for;

  • leading, managing and delivering an external communications work programme for the Group, including media relations, PR, awards, corporate publications and events.
  • To develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships with key business areas and to provide an external communications advice and support service.
  • To plan, manage and deliver a range of high quality corporate communications projects, campaigns and activities to agreed timescales and budgets, including media relations, public relations and publications.
  • To ensure all communications adhere with brand guidelines.
  • To manage the procurement of and relationships with creative agencies and suppliers.
  • To assist the Head of Communications with crisis and reputation management, and business continuity.

The ideal candidate would have;

  • Significant knowledge and experience in planning, managing and delivering press and external communication work programmes within a large, complex organisation.
  • Experience of managing work programmes and projects, and developing briefs, plans and procedures.
  • Excellent copy writing, editing and proofreading skills, with good grammar and literacy.
  • Knowledge of housing industry is desirable
