Artillery Systems requires a Requirements Engineer to work on several projects across a complex Artillery Portfolio working on in-service and equipment procurement.
Summary of Key responsibilities:
Key aspects:
- In close collaboration with the Requirements Managers, control the writing, measuring, tracking verification and acceptance of the Customer's requirements through the C&A phases of a Cat A project.
- Ensure Requirements comply with DE&S policy and standards.
- Produce or contribute to engineering and project plans.
- Collect, collate and evaluate technical data, review technical equipment and systems, and make recommendations to the project manager.
Responsibilities:
- Use DOORS to manage requirements.
- Use Systems Engineering to analyse a complex environment and recommend solutions.
- Establish the engineering approach to the project including Ordinance, Munitions and Explosives expertise.
- Write and contribute to documents such as SRD, ITEAP, ITEA, VVRM, Engineering Management plans and Trials Plans as required.
- Collaborate with other member of Artillery Systems and DE&S to produce the best outcome in the available time.
Key Essential Qualifications, Memberships, Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Typically has an HNC/HND or equivalent qualification level in Engineering, Science or a related discipline.
Working knowledge of;
- Requirements management in Defence.
- The DE&S business (eg purpose, strategy, standards, regulatory constraints, structure, policy, processes, procedures and tools and their intent).
- DE&S Engineering processes in order to deliver work as required.
- Systems Engineering approaches.
- Front Line Command customers, their technical requirements and forward plan.
Tools and Techniques;
- DOORS user - training is not available.
- The skills to contribute to the application of the 'Guide for Engineering Activities & Review' (GEAR).
- Systems Engineering techniques for analysing, presenting and solving problems.
- Planning techniques.
- Good written English.
Engineering Management Skills
- The skills to understand and influence the design of a system, component, or process to meet customer requirements within realistic constraints (such as technical, economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, and sustainability).
- The ability to help identify, formulate and solve engineering, science or technology problems.
