Description

Essential responsibilities:

  • Proactive liaison with Engineering Project Teams, ensuring Mechanical & Electrical technical requirements are sufficiently robust to minimise risk in procurement.
  • Support tender evaluation process in terms of assessing a Supplier's technical compliance to requirements, their manufacturing, resourcing and facilities capability, and their ability to implement effective Project Management, Risk Management, Change Management and Configuration control. Supporting the Sourcing team in contractual negotiations regarding the impact of any specification changes through the procurement process.
  • Manage the engineering interface between our Subcontract Suppliers and the business, acting if necessary as the primary point of contact and focal for the procured works.
  • Ensure a process is established that proactively maintains budget control and manages changes to the technical baseline with the supplier.
  • Independently assess that technical milestones have been achieved and advise Sourcing such that invoices can be approved.
  • Be an encouraging advocate for sourcing best practices. Always have a 'can do', helpful attitude; encouraging & proactively advising engineers with their sourcing tasks. Be highly visible within the engineering department; have a welcoming attitude that encourages liaison & collaboration.
  • Develop positive relationships with Sourcing Leaders to manage and implement supplier growth strategies. Interface with Suppliers and Supply chain to drive improvements
  • Develop our supply base to eliminate single/sole source selections
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for cost saving and risk mitigation by proactively running formal Design to Cost within key project teams, working with the Sourcing, engineering & operations to identify a joined-up cost down strategy.
  • To ensure suppliers comply with the GE Company policy and procedures relating to design and development processes.
  • Support the Sourcing team in monitoring/valuating on-going Subcontractor business reviews in terms of performance, quality and reliability.
  • Be Sourcing's functional focal for Tollgate reviews (NPI TG0 - TG8) and for expediting all Engineering priorities.
  • Ensuring long term agreements, and blanket PO's are fit for purpose to support ongoing efficient engineering delivery and execution.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing the outsourcing of major technical work packages and/or equipment design/development tasks having substantial Intellectual Property content.
  • Experience with interfacing with all levels of internal and external management/functions.
  • Min 5 years' experience as a Project Manager.
  • Conversant with Project Management tools (MS Project, Excel etc).
  • Proven track record that includes working collaboratively with Programme Management and Engineering/technical individuals regarding management of Statement of Work requirements and Subcontractor deliverables.
  • Experience in working in the aerospace or defence sector.
  • Technical knowledge of avionics hardware/software development processes and certification.
  • Experience of working with global contributors both remotely and via international travel.
