The Role Description
The duties of a Shift Engineer are detailed below.
Provide professional technical advice that is used to make production decisions.
Balance process inputs, process efficiency and process outputs.
Measure and manage production efficiencies to exceed business requirements.
Plan RH-ILW waste recovery operations to ensure process optimisation
Provide expert fault diagnosis and solutions to maximise plant availability.
Ensure prompt and efficient availability of operational equipment and consumables to support operations.
Act as a deputy to the Waste Product Manager and Production Manager.
Schedule and co-ordinate routine and corrective maintenance activities on the plant to achieve high availability.
Education/Qualifications/Training
HNC level or NVQ 4 in Engineering
Member of an engineering institute and engineering council registration
Experience/Knowledge
Experience across a range of engineering disciplines eg. Ventilation systems, mechanical, electrical, PLC fault
diagnosis, BEMS systems
Experience of technical fault finding
Experience of plant and maintenance on conventional and nuclear plant.
Experience of managing craft personnel
Experience of producing working instructions, technical reports and safety case modifications
Other Requirements
Able to be a classified radiation worker in accordance with Ionising Radiation Regulations
Able to work to a shift rota (including nights)
