1 year + contract (+ extensions)

$50-70/hr W2 - sorry unable to C2C

Responsible for the on-going administration, maintenance, configuration, customization, troubleshooting, upgrades, integration, and product support for the IBM Netcool suite used by the 24x7x365 Infrastructure Operations Center

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the on-going administration, maintenance, configuration, customization, troubleshooting, upgrades, integration, and product support for the IBM NetCool suite used by the 24x7x365 Infrastructure Operations Center to provide monitoring, root cause identification, and incident resolution for computing, network and transport infrastructure.

This position will provide infrastructure management product maintenance, configuration customizations, product integrations, process and procedure automation and on-going support to maximize the functionality so as to provide reliable and sustainable monitoring and management of the compute, network and transport infrastructure. This position will also provide development consulting for new infrastructure management requests.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience administering and supporting IBM NetCool suite - Probes, gateways, Impact, WebGUI, Jazz/DASH, Log Analysis, etc. (5+ years)
  • Knowledge of SNMP, Perl, and JavaScript programming (5+ years)
  • Shell Scripting (3+ years)
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to effectively organize tasks, manage multiple priorities/details, meet schedules, and deliver on customer commitments
  • Self-motivated with the ability to effectively manage multiple project responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Ability to provide and accept feedback

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience and/or familiarity with network, computing, storage, and applications management standards and conventions such as SNMP, TL1, FCAPS, ITIL, SMI-S, TMN, and BS 15000/ISO 20000 is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft System Center Operations Manager, Microsoft System Center Orchestrator, Micro Focus SiteScope, Micro Focus Server Automation, Micro Focus Network Automation, CA Performance Center, Infoblox DDI, Cisco PRIME, GE PulseNet, Megasys Telenium, Nokia SAM, Nokia NSP, or Adtran AOE.
  • Knowledge of Python, PowerShell, XML, Visual Basic, VBScript
  • UNIX/Linux system administration
  • Knowledge of SQL, Oracle and DB2 and other database systems.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills with the ability to convey complex technical issues in business terms
  • Ability to build relationships, to communicate and work with all levels of management, vendors, and other internal and external groups and customers and exhibit positive influence at all levels
  • Strategic thinker that can embrace, influence, and lead change

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field or 5+ years experience in systems management environments and technologies is highly desired for this position
  • Licenses and/or other professional certificates, such as ITIL Foundations or Manager Certification are preferred

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • 60% - Responsible for the management and maintenance of the tools the analyst is responsible for. This includes patching, upgrades, architecture and 24/7 support. Also included is the continued improvement and/or efficiency of the tools.
  • 20% - Responsible for developing and participation in the successful completion of projects, initiatives and appropriate network, computing, storage, transport and applications management Information Technology initiatives.
  • 10% - Responsible for participating in tactical plans, strategies and engineering designs for the infrastructure management tools the analyst is responsible for.
  • 5% - Responsible for working with vendors of systems management products and evaluating their technology for fit and effectiveness within the IT infrastructure.
  • 5% - Responsible for providing support to Information Technology departments on issues related to network, computing, storage, and applications management planning, engineering design, and consulting.

What are the must-have skills?
