Financial Inclusion Officer - Sutton - £19 Per Hour - 3 months

EDUCATION

  • Certification in Generalist Advice/Money Advice Cert or equivalent certificate

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE

  • A minimum of 1 years' experience of debt/welfare benefits advice work within a CAB/Advice UK, housing or similar setting
  • A working knowledge of current welfare and housing benefits
  • Demonstrable knowledge of welfare reform
  • Experience of supervising debt/welfare benefits casework
  • Experience of collaborative working with internal and/or external colleagues to achieve outcomes for residents
  • Detailed and up to date knowledge of standard money advice procedures
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office

SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including interpersonal skills
  • Ability to monitor and calculate payments, with an ability to prepare & present stats
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and understand their needs, often in emotional and sensitive situations
  • Ability to research, analyse and interpret complex information
  • Ability to prioritise a heavy caseload with conflicting priorities

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be mobile in order to visit people in their own homes and able to climb stairs

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

  • The Financial Inclusion aims to deliver a comprehensive and proactive advice service to provide information and assistance to residents and prevent financial exclusion for households on low incomes or impacted by the changes in the cost of living and Welfare Benefits.
  • Supporting the Income Collection team and Financial Inclusion Manager by supporting tenants to maximise their income through the take up of appropriate benefits
  • Providing money guidance and welfare benefits advice.
  • To support tenants to sustain their tenancy by acting as a case worker for residents via referrals across the business.
  • To provide a professional and confidential advice casework service to Kingston residents covering the full range of money advice via outreach across Kingston's offices, through a combination of appointments and telephone advice as appropriate.
  • To quality assure all casework by ensuring it meets agreed standards to maintain an excellent service for Kingston residents by maintaining detailed and accurate case records
  • To support the development and implementation of an integrated approach to financial inclusion in line with our Income Collection and Enforcement Strategies & policies
  • To support the design, co-ordination and delivery of financial inclusion focussed take up campaigns and monitor and produce reports on their impact
  • To support the process of improving financial capability amongst our customers and maximise their income. This will in turn aid the sustainment of tenancies and help create confident and sustainable communities
  • To help maximise the level of rent collection
  • Provide advice and guidance to our customers to develop their financial capability, therefore improving their skills and knowledge enabling them to successfully manage their finances
  • Income maximisation to prevent poverty and social exclusion and to improve life chances.
  • Provide training, briefing and information to colleagues and other agencies to assist customers in being financially included.
  • Provide support on grant funding initiatives for the purposes of financial inclusion.
