Mechanical Fitter - 6 month contract, Devonport Dockyard, £18.62/h
We are looking for a Mechanical Fitter for a 6 month contract. Working on site at Devonport Dockyard you will be working with a department responsible for upkeep and general maintenance of services and buildings throughout the dockyard including air, water, steam, ventilation and sanitation systems and equipment.
Candidates should:
- Have completed an apprenticeship or have level 3 qualifications in a mechanical engineering discipline.
- Be able to work to technical instructions and read engineering drawings.
- Be competent in the use of general workshop machinery and hand tools related to the role of mechanical fitter.
- Undertake installations, repairs and maintenance.
- Have a good understanding of Health and Safety Regulations relative to the role.
- Be prepared to work overtime and drop into shift work when there is a requirement.
- Undertake installation, repair, maintenance and manufacture of ship equipment.
- Competent to work on mechanical equipment and systems in the marine defence and commercial industry.
- Read drawings, interpret work instructions and perform the work to time, cost and quality.
- To be able to carry out surveys and pre-refit examinations of equipment, machinery and structures/fittings.
- Set to work by the use of test equipment.
- Carry out functional testing.
- Competent to use general workshop machinery and hand tools related to the role of mechanical fitter.
- Cleaning up of own work arisings.
- Slinging duties as required.
