Description

This position requires a Secret Security Clearance

Responsibilities: Group in Clients Strategic Systems Engineering Division is seeking a sensor modeling and test engineer to work within multidisciplinary technical teams to support the modeling, development, test, characterization, and performance analysis of ultra-precision sensors and instrumentation used in robust Guidance, Navigation and Control (GN&C) solutions.

A successful candidate will be:
Highly motivated to support the delivery of technology solutions that are of strategic importance to the nation
Dedicated to developing the in-depth mission and technology domain expertise that enable realization of such solutions for complex systems
Capable of planning and executing individual tasks on a multidisciplinary team as well as leading small teams as necessary

Tasking will include: develop performance models for navigation sensors; includes development of functional, control, statistical, and physics-based models. Collaborate with design, test and analysis teams to develop test plans and procedures that use environmental test facilities to characterize sensors and validate models. Develop algorithms and software tools for analyzing test and operational data; apply advanced statistics and processing methods for assessing and projecting sensor performance.

The candidate may be required to evaluate components and subsystems comprised of hardware and Embedded software to ensure their readiness for system-level integration and test. The ability to work in a team and succeed within a process-oriented setting is critical, as is the ability to thoroughly document and communicate ones work to a technical audience.

Qualifications:

This position seeks a candidate with the following qualifications:
Engineer with 7+ years of experience with a BS in EE, ME, CE/CS or Physics (MS preferred).
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision.
Strong communication, collaborative, and interpersonal skills are required working in a process oriented environment complying with procedures.
The ability to document designs, simulations and test results for distribution and present to a technical audience.
A technical background in GN&C systems and experience with inertial or other GN&C sensors/subsystems.

Ability to document activities such as test requirements, test plans, procedures, configuration and test reports.
Programming experience in C, C++, MATLAB, SIMULINK, or LabVIEW.

Experience in the following areas: vibration analysis, heat transfer, signal processing, data acquisition and analysis, control theory, system error modeling, inertial system modeling and test, integration and test of hardware and software subsystems, test and measurement instrumentation.
