My client requires a Network Platform Engineer in the Interconnect Product squad. Interconnect is a DevOps team and follows Agile methodologies. The Interconnect squad develop, deploy and operate a range of critical solutions for the Cloud Network Exchanges across Europe and Americas.

These Cloud Network Exchanges are the network hubs connecting my client to Public Cloud Providers and different third parties across the globe. Additionally, these Exchanges are also hubs for my clients internal network. Currently multitude of network services are being migrated from on-prem data centres and into the CNXs and different new capabilities are being deployed into CNXs.

As a Network Engineer you will be required to interact with Architects, Product and Service Owners and fellow Engineers to develop and deploy network solutions in line with BP's standard and longer-term strategy. While the community of Architects focus on longer term strategy, Service and Product Owners work with stakeholders to prioritize features and capability and DevOps manager allocate work and track progress, the product squad engineers makes it happen. Although in this role you will primarily need to work BP's cloud team very closely and support BP's farther integration with Public Cloud adopting different features offered by Cloud Providers typically engineers need to work on different areas of CNX (Extranet connectivity, FW, Proxy, load balancing) depending on the varying workload at any given point in time.

You will also be required to leverage your networking knowledge to troubleshoot particularly challenging incidents and problems related to the Products and Services offered by the team.

Essential criteria & qualifications

A functional knowledge of networking principles at the level of CCNP or greater (specific certification or accreditation not required or expected); you know networks, how to solve problems and how to find better ways

Experience with design and configuration of networking in Public Cloud (AWS, Azure), and integration to on-premise networks

A solid grasp of network operations best-practices. You know how getting the basics right sets the foundation for future automations and can highlight examples where you put those beliefs into practice

Confidence with the commonly used network equipment in an enterprise environment (such as Cisco, Juniper, HPE/Aruba, etc)
