Senior Roads Asset Officer - East Lothian - 12 months

Experienced Senior Roads Asset Officer required to assist in the delivery and development of the full range of Road services, and in particular the monitoring and co-ordination of public utility activities across East Lothian.

The role will include the monitoring of permits and consents, work with collaborating organisations and service provider, the drafting of technical and financial reports, representing the Authority at local, regional and national forums, and undertake further duties under direction of the Team Manager.

The person must have a proven project management background and ability to convey technical information to non-technical persons. Knowledge of road standards and associated legislation is desirable. Ability to engage effectively and build relationships with stakeholders is essential. Ability to work individually and as part of a team to deliver results within agreed timescales. Good research, analytical and presentation skills. Good planning and organisational skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Essential skills/experience required -

  • Minimum degree qualification in Civil Engineering, project management or related discipline.
  • Practical experience on project management and delivery.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office based applications.
  • Working knowledge of public sector procurement procedures, roads and traffic legislation and other best practice documentation.
  • Thorough knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation.
