Credit Research Analyst

Major Investment Management firm is looking to appoint a Credit Research Analyst. The team actively manages over £70bn of corporate bonds. Globally there are over 20 credit research analysts supporting the fund managers with dedicated research on corporate credit quality, credit market trends and relative value. The London credit research team primarily monitors and forecasts the credit quality and outlook of UK and European companies and credit markets.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Perform thorough fundamental credit and relative value analyses of Investment Grade, High Yield and Emerging Markets companies.
  • These analyses should result in Alpha-generating recommendations on bonds and/or credit derivatives.
  • Communicate effectively with the portfolio managers to enhance investment performance of Active Fixed Income funds.
  • Build and maintain good communication lines with key issuers, regulators, industry agencies, rating agencies, financial intermediaries and specialised research providers.
  • Partner with the Co-Head of Credit Research to enhance and streamline credit research processes.

Academic Qualifications

BA/BSc (or equivalent)

Mathematics to A-level (or equivalent)

Masters degree

MBA from a top tier programme

Technical/Professional Quals

CFA charterholder

Accountancy qualification

SFA registration

Experience:

At least 3 years of investment experience in a credit analysis role

Corporate bond, CDS and hybrid expertise

Investment Grade, High Yield, and/or Emerging Markets experience

Current market knowledge is essential

Experience across a range of credit markets (EUR, GBP and USD)

Understanding of ESG issues

Thematic research experience

Specialist knowledge/skills:

Solid understanding of company financial accounts

Excellent PC literacy (Excel/Word etc)

Programming skills preferred (VBA, SQL, C#)

Familiarity with Bloomberg

Excellent numerical analysis

Competence/Characteristics

Logical thinker

Excellent presentation and writing skills

Fluent English speaker

Highly organised and structured in approach to work

Good level of initiative
