Mechanical Design Engineer

Cambridge

6-10 months

My Client currently has an opening for a Mechanical Design Engineer, to join the multi-disciplinary engineering team to help deliver a portfolio of new products from proof of concept, through design and prototyping, and into manufacture.

In addition to mechanical design work, the successful candidate will also be encouraged to help generate product concepts, build and test prototypes, and help transfer the final design into manufacturing.

Requirements:

  • Class 2:1 degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering subject.
  • At least two years' experience within new product development, biotechnology, medical devices, laboratory machinery/equipment design, or engineering consultancy.
  • At least two years' experience using Solidworks, both in solid modelling and drafting drawings.
  • Proven experience of designing components for a variety of manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metalwork, and/or injection moulding.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, including the ability to work from engineering first principles.
  • Strong mechanical build/assembly aptitude, candidates may choose to demonstrate this through interests or projects outside of work
  • Familiarity with working within an ISO 9001 and/or ISO 13485 quality management system.
  • Ability to demonstrate skills and understanding of other disciplines such as electronics, manufacturing, software development, reliability, and/or product compliance and regulatory affairs would be an advantage.
