Description
I.V. Solutions Ltd is seeking a Technical Author with SAP documentation specialism to work on a long-term client project. The initial project is for 3 months, but with the potential for contract extension.
The requirement is for an experienced documentation professional who can deliver a variety of services in a highly technical environment.
The documentation specialist will be responsible for developing content from first draft to finished product. This will include language review and quality checking and ensuring correct and consistent terminology is used. The successful candidate will be confident in managing the end-to-end process from initial draft through to final delivery.
Candidates should be used to working closely with subject matter experts to translate their input into high-quality product documentation tailored to the needs of the target group. We are looking for articulate communicators with good business acumen.
Requirements:
- Over 5 years' experience of writing technical documentation
- First-language proficiency in English
- Excellent written and spoken skills and the ability to explain technical concepts in clear concise English
- Knowledge of SAP products and experience of working in an SAP environment
- An understanding of what constitutes good writing style (eg active voice, short sentences, simple language, consistent terminology, use of parallel constructions)
- An understanding of how to structure texts; the ability to restructure content, if required
- Able to work independently without the need for detailed instruction and as part of a team; proactive in seeking input from content providers and other colleagues, as required;
- Experience of working with XML authoring tools and of creating "click through" videos to show application functionality;
- Excellent skills in Microsoft PowerPoint ® and other MS Office ® products (including editing graphics and the use of animation);
- A good technical understanding and significant experience of delivering documentation services in a cloud environment
Desirable:
- Education to degree level in modern languages, technical communications, or similar
- An understanding of business and technology processes associated with a commercial IT environment
- An understanding of database and server management
- Knowledge of German
