Description
My client is an established and highly successful technical Management Consultancy and is looking for a Data Engineering Lead with experience in at least one of the following:
Kafka, Hortonworks, Hadoop or Informatica to support a new platform deployment.
Candidates must be able to work in Leeds at least four days per week and there will be occasional travel to Newcastle. This is initially a three-month engagement but is likely to extend and turn into a long-term role.
Profile:
- 10+ years' experience data engineering
- A data engineering background having coded on big data platforms. Especially looking for Kafka, Hortonworks experience
- Might also have a Java background
- Ideally some experience with AWS big data solutions
- Familiar with and has developed in a DevOps way using a CI/CD pipeline
- Tech team leadership
Responsibilities:
- Initial short-term focus would be on documenting the LLDs of the current proposal and leading some mini design workshops to bottom out areas of the design that still need detail
- Document LLDs
- Would be expected to lead' the technical team which includes:
- QA'ing code of other developers
- Mentoring developers
- Assigning work to developers with the most relevant skill set
- Acting as the single point of contact for the dev team back into sprint planning and the project manager/scrum master
- Design and document the data workflow
- Looking for quick wins in the current solution
