Publications Officer - Edinburgh - 4 months

Experienced Publications Officer required for an initial 4 months contract based in central Edinburgh. This publishing professional will lead the production of two new publications which will focus on showcasing the successful launch of a new meeting/lecture recording programme within the organisation.

Amongst many other expectaions -

  • You will have experience of developing and delivering editorial services that support the production of major publications (in print or web formats).
  • You will be highly skilled at writing engaging content with consistent attention to detail and a strong command of the English language.
  • You will have experience of understanding and creating content, and identifying audiences.
  • You will be expected to review a large amount of existing material in order to prioritise the key messages that will create the narrative for each publication.
  • You will work with the Graphic Design Service to identify the key imagery that will illustrate the core messages.

Your aim of this role is to create a printed booklet and accompanying digital record to showcase how the organisations has introduced metting/lecture recording product at scale across the institution covering: procurement; technical implementation; programme delivery, service development; evaluation; staff and student engagement, communication, wider strategic opportunities.

Key skills and experience required include (but are not limited to) -

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent)
  • Experience of developing and delivering editorial services that support the production of major publications (in print or web formats).
  • You will be highly skilled at writing engaging content with consistent attention to detail and a strong command of the English language.
  • You will have experience of the publication production process (from brief to delivery), and possess a high level of fluency in desktop publishing software eg Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. Experience in project planning and delivery is essential, and you will have a track record of meeting deadlines and targets.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver to agreed deadlines and budgets.
