Freelance Database Administrator DBA - Big Data

Up to 6 months Contract €500-€600 per day (Freelancer)
My client has set up a log centralization (infrastructure, systems, Middleware, network, applications). Faced with the influx of this data, it was decided to implement a DataLake, in addition to the existing Data WareHouse, in order to collect and centralize these raw data, in order to allow their analysis for improvement of operation, incident resolution or problem, optimization of configurations or other application developments.
The service will require a great deal of expertise in abstraction, organization and rationalization to guarantee the capitalization of project assets, in high load architectures and requiring high availability.
It will focus on DBA expertise, mainly PostGreSQL, to improve performance (Servers + database) (index, storage, i/o access, memory management, caching, ...) as well as the analysis of read requests/writing/maj ..., and schema analysis.
Other DBMS will also, incidentally, within the scope of the service, such as Oracle, MariaDB and MongoDB.
This DBA expertise will be required to participate in Performance Tests on the tools of the HP ALM Performance Center and the implementation of related metrology tools and dashboards.
Skills Regarding the DBA part:
- Review and optimization of database server and database configurations themselves
- Proposal of optimization of the applications with developers, according to the analysis of the requests of I/O and the diagrams handled
- Participation in architectural committees and workshops
Regarding the Performance Tests part:
- Modeling the Development and Monitoring Repository
- Variability of injection scenarios
- Write the test plans
- Implementation of performance tools (APM/metrology)
- Participate in the achievement of performance tests and the writing of reports of performance shots
- Carry out technical analyzes associated with the tests and propose evolutions axes if necessary. Produce the project report and performance campaigns
Deliverables defined below:
- Fill in a weekly activity report indicating in particular the progress of the scripts and/or configuration and/or optimization on which the service provider worked;
- Provision of a monthly performance report;
- Source files and scripts/configurations saved on git, svn, or BDD Servers, of the appropriate FDJ solution;
- Tests, Tests and Test Results file in the used HP ALM Perfomance Center solution
- Documentations made, including the global presentation of the solutions and shared in the document repository (Confluence, SharePoint).
As part of this context, the service provider will work as a DBMS Performance expert, specifically for PostgreSQL, on:
- The field of digital and web technologies like Apache, Tomcat, PHP, Java, jee
- Open Source tools
- Analysis, configuration and performance optimization of PostgreSQL databases
- Analysis and design of SQL language (query optimization & schemas)
- Unix/Linux systems, Windows
In addition, other skills are appreciated, even as a beginner, among the following DBMS:
- Oracle,
- MariaDB,
- MongoDB
