Description
TORI Global are seeking a Senior SC Cleared SQL Developer with analytical skills to join a team of technicians that are responsible for the owning, mentoring, and supporting the development and support of the suite of analytical systems that the team develop.
The successful candidate will join the Technology division as a developer, within the Delivery leg of the Data Analytics and Modelling domain. They will use their technical skills and expertise to play a key role in the team's activities which will include all aspects of the software development life cycle from design through to post implementation support.
You will be work on multiple work-streams and be able to act independently, make decisions, apply analytical excellence and judgement and be a member of the team. The role requires an understanding of how the areas of operation relate to other parts of the Bank and the wider IT estate.
They will be expected to influence the testing/implementation of these components and provide post implementation support
They would need to provide guidance into technical discussions and best practices sharing knowledge and assisting and technical coaching other team members when necessary.
Technical Ownership:
- Own one or more work streams of the project under development
- Focus on high quality and timely delivery of solutions
- Promptly escalate risks and issues, which affect product delivery and quality that are beyond scope of influence and report same to Project and Delivery managers
- Flexible in working under changing and different work settings
- Build, strong and effective relationships with business and technical stakeholders, with good communication skills.
- Be an effective team player with a high attention to detail in all work.
- Mentor junior team members with the assistance of PM/Architect
Planning & Estimation:
- Able to thoroughly understand and analyse the project requirements
- Create estimate and detailed plan for delivery of Design and Development phase(s) including Waterfall or Agile methodologies. Consider integration with wider systems
- Ensure appropriate unit testing is conducted and documented
- Provide technical input and support when engaging with other domains and teams
- Key engagement in the entire life cycle of the project from inception to support . Be effective in the team and project meetings. Develop, maintain, troubleshoot, enhance and document components develop by self and others as per the requirements and detailed design
Innovation:
- Championing and assisting in the continuous improvement of development processes, methods and standards
- Researching on, and looking for opportunities to implement new technologies and methodologies to drive efficiency and improve technical solutions.
Essential Requirements
- Currently hold valid SC Clearance
- Have a previous experience with the full software development life cycle and different software development models
- Exposure to Big Data and BI technologies like Hadoop, Python, SQL SSIS etc. is desirable
- Have experience of tools supporting the development and version control process.
- Have a good level of software testing experience sufficient to take part in test activities including test case derivation, unit testing, supporting system testing and user acceptance test
- Have good interpersonal communication skills with an ability to interpret and present information to a variety of recipients using suitable modes of communication
- Have the ability to create concise, informative technical documentation
- Demonstrate the desire and ability to seek up to date information and learn new skills and apply this in relation to design, development, support activities
- Have the ability to communicate clearly and form relationships with business users and demonstrate an understanding of business processes
