My client a leading energy supplier based in Sunbury requires a Lead Architect - Voice Communications & Telephony

Role synopsis

Architecture lead for the realization of the companies Telephony & Unified Comms strategy. This strategy involves migrating BP users from Legacy localized PABX environments to either Cloud Hosted Cisco IPT or Microsoft Teams solutions, depending upon business requirements

The role will require the development of the detailed architecture & design for the new platform(s) and the decision trees that will be required for platform selection. Further, the role will involve working with the Unified Comms service line in order to deliver a robust and workable migration roadmap for the new environment.

This person will be comfortable operating as a key member of an agile team in order to ensure the successful delivery of the new platform(s). There are many delivery teams & stakeholders and this role will require the ability to work within a federated way of working environment.

Key accountabilities

  • Develop and maintain the architecture and design for the realization of the companies Unified Comms strategy
  • Produce any necessary architectural deliverables; Architecture Vision, High-Level design, detailed design etc.
  • Support the development of a migration plan and delivery roadmap which will allow the project to migrate users from their current PABX or other telephony platform to either Cisco IPT or Microsoft Teams
  • Seek and gain approval for project architecture from project stakeholders
  • Collate and document architecturally significant enablers from across all IT&S programs and provide documented strategy and architecture in support of the program
  • Ensure alignment of the project with IT&S standards and broader strategy
  • Provide thought leadership and communication in order to resolve technical issues across the delivery teams, application owners and other stakeholders.
  • Build and sustain credible relationships through liaison with segment architects, technical specialists, application managers, and delivery teams.
  • Provides hands-on advice to management and project teams; Provides hands-on guidance in support technical and migration issues
  • Enhances Digital Workplace and Unified Comms reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value.
  • Ability to inspire change across the organization and create a sense of urgency to deliver the strategy

Essential Education

  • Minimum requirement of four-year college degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent experience

Essential experience and job requirements

  • Experience working in geographically dispersed organizations;
  • Extensive technical skills in the Telephony and Unified Comms space
  • Experience of migrating Legacy PABX environments to more modern platforms such as Cisco IPT and Microsoft Skype and/or Teams
  • Extensive knowledge of the Telephony and Unified Comms marketplace, particularly with cloud platforms and service providers
  • Ideally knowledge of the Cisco IPT and Microsoft Skype and/or Teams products
  • In-depth technical skills to perform effectively in a hybrid environment with multiple datacenters and multiple public cloud service providers
  • A highly-motivated self-starter. Must be able to maintain focus on achieving results, whilst being patient and pragmatic
  • Must be an intelligent, articulate and persuasive collaborator who can serve as an effective member of the project, who can communicate options to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Experience working in an Agile or DevOps environment
