Beacon Hill Technologies is currently searching for a Linux Engineer for a client located in Akron, Ohio.
Responsibilities include:
- Strategy & Planning Assist in the planning, design, development and implementation of new applications and enhancements to existing applications.
- Work with Solution Architects to define business requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve business systems issues.
- Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems across multiple data centers and cloud solutions.
- Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
- Conduct research on emerging hardware/software technologies and products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems procurement and development efforts.
- System Implementation Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on Servers, storage and related technologies.
- Escalate incidents as necessary. Support application development teams throughout project life-cycles.
- Analyze system, server application, network, and input/output device capacity and performance.
- Operational Management Provides 3rd level 24/7 support of Signet's data assets.
- Develop, document, and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate use.
- Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, life cycle management upgrades, patches, re-configurations, and/or purchases
Position Requirements:
- Working outside the standard office 8 hours workday as required; on-call availability.
- Formal Education & Certification Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience.
- Technical Certifications preferred Knowledge & Experience 5+ years IT related experience.
- Technical knowledge of Linux technologies and associated operating systems.
- Technical knowledge of Linux technologies (hardware, protocols, and standards and related technologies).
- 3+ years application support experience with Linux technologies.
- Experience in IT infrastructure planning and development.
- Experience with Shell Scripting and programming.
- Minimum Qualification 5 - 7 years
