We are working strategically with one of our core clients who is looking for an experienced and highly knowledgeable Splunk SME (L3) .
  • Work Location: Belgium
  • Duration of Contract: 3 months
  • Tentative Start date: 15th April, 2019
  • Language preferences: English , Dutch will be advantage
  • Relevant Experience: 8 - 10 years
Job Description:
  • · Understanding of Splunk architecture: - Knowledge about various components (indexer, forwarder, search head, deployment server).
  • · Heavy and Universal forwarder. - Basic understanding of Installation and Configuration of all Splunk components.
  • · Designing Splunk distributed model for enterprise (Estimate number of forwarders, indexers, search heads based on data and users).
  • · Hot, Warm, Cold, Frozen bucketing. - Using IFX, Rex Command and REGEX in configuration files.
  • · Knowledge of EXTRACT keyword, sed. - Knowledge of various search commands like stats, chart, time chart, transaction, strptime, strftime, eval, where, xyseries, table etc.
  • · Creating co relation rule / search, dashboards, reports using XML. - Create dashboard from search. - Inline search vs scheduled search in a dashboard
  • · Various types of charts - Knowledge of app creation, user and role access permissions.
  • · Use techniques to optimize searches for better performance.
  • -Search time vs Index time field extraction.
  • -Summary Indexing.
  • -Performance evaluation and optimization for Splunk instances.
  • -Understanding of configuration files, precedence and working.
  • -Props. conf, transforms. conf, inputs. conf, outputs. conf
  • -Setting up a forwarder (Heavy/ Universal).
  • -Load balancing of forwarders and indexers.
  • · Perform maintenance & upgrades of Splunk indexers, search heads, forwarders and Deployment servers
  • · Provide high-quality technical support to clients at all levels, speaking with a high level of technical understanding, resolving complex technical problems and helping to proactively prevent new issues.
  • · Determine methods and procedures for solving very complex technical issues encompassing hardware, software and network equipment.
  • · Provide technical assistance to the Deployment Teams, when requested.
  • · Ensure Engineering availability for the 7X24X365 team, and take part in technical calls to provide adequate coverage for our clients and services
  • · Positively represent a definitive Security posture to our clients, and drive business growth.
