.NET Web Service Developer, Brussels

THE COMPANY :
Our client is a major player in the utility market. This market is evolving from a commodity market to a service market, has seen the introduction of decentralized production, flexible resources and increased demands from regulators and TSO's. Both digitalization and innovate services are required on the level of the energy production, distribution and optimization departments. This makes our activity very challenging both on business and IT services.

One of the drivers of the project is to reduce operational business cost. We are in a face to replace legacy applications by new COTS applications. This will require complex integration to existing landscape and also includes the implementation of a new Operational Data Store (reachable via a .NET API) and Data Management System. The current IT infrastructure, which is becoming obsolete, is a mixture of applications (homemade and COTS) and technologies (excel/access, .NET, JAVA, APEX, DELPHI, VB6) and strong interfacing (DLL, web services, ODBC, FTP, sFTP, file transfer).

GENERAL TASKS OF .NET WEB SERVICE DEVELOPER :
The .NET Web Service Developer is in charge support the Designer but mostly to develop and test any .NET components for interface services (web services, importers, exporters, translators) with an eye towards simplicity, reliability, manageability, maintainability, extensibility, performance, and re-use according to agreed timelines and budgets in order to support the core business processes of the Organization in line with the business needs and quality requirements.

He/she works collaboratively with technical and business team members to develop and maintain business solutions.

CURRENT MISSION EXPECTATIONS
You will be allocated to a project team responsible to implement a new application suite that will replace over 80% of our existing applications.

Your main activities are:

Develop, document and test the interface components between applications and/or databases.
Support the redesign of the data and information flow in order to optimise the new suite of applications
Create test data and test the information flows between new application suite and legacy applications and with external partners.
Work closely with the teams that are responsible of the enterprise IBM Bus (ESB) and of the central application for connection to external world.
Help insure alignment between the team, the business and the IT department

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND EXPECTED
As a prerequisite to becoming our Web Service Developer, you should have:

5+ years relevant IT experience
Excellent Knowledge of .NET web service (REST, SOAP) framework
Be proficient in C#, with a good knowledge of their ecosystems
Have a strong experience with installation and configuration of framework, components, applications (in java or .NET) on Windows 2012 server, Oracle 12 database, and Redhat Linux 12 server
Be proficient with code versioning tools such as SVN
Have experience with Jenkins for build and deployment
Have skills for writing reusable libraries
Be familiar with Windows Presentation Framework such as Infragistics
Experience implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests
Previous experience in the energy market is a nice plus
Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and database
Be able to analyse requirements to identify the right information flows and the right technical solutions that are needed and efficient
Have a good understanding of configuration of server (components and layers), flow and communication protocols such as DLL, web services, ODBC, FTP
Have a basic understanding of Common Language Runtime (CLR), its limitations, weaknesses, and workarounds

SOFT SKILLS
You can also prove the following soft skills :

have very good communication skills towards the business and the IT counterparts.
Fluent in English. Dutch/French is a bonus but not essential.
are able to work autonomously while being a team player and in a stressful environment with changing priorities
