Asset Strategy Engineer (Asset Planner) - Coventry with travel - Initial 10-month contract

Our client in the utilities industry requires an Asset Strategy Engineer (Asset Planner) to join their team based in Coventry with occasional travel to other sites, on an initial 10-month contract.

The role:

  • You will be working within a price control team, and helping direct investment decisions on the client's asset base, to develop asset strategies

Key Skills
The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience of physical asset management, engineering or operational management in an organisation with a large asset base
  • An asset management qualification is essential
  • The ability to think strategically with strong analytical skills
  • Great communication skills both verbal and written
  • A solid financial and business understanding to confidently make the right commercial decisions
  • The ability to interpret complex issues from a technical, commercial or data perspective
  • A good understanding and knowledge of regulatory frameworks (eg RIIO)
  • An ISO55001 accreditation will be beneficial

Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing asset strategies and investment plans safely and efficiently. and acting as Asset Owner
  • Ensuring cost delivery by supporting the management of systems to collate, identifying and providing information required.
  • Creating an optimised investment strategy and an achievable and realistic balanced plan which is risk evaluated.
  • Collating service issue information across the asset base, assessing risks and identifying the root cause of failure.
  • Working with stakeholders to identify the best solutions, achieve compliance and mitigating risks.
  • Making decisions on the solutions in your capacity as the Asset Owner.
  • Achieving business approval for investment via due diligence process by communicating and collaborating closely with stakeholders.
  • Supporting risk modelling scenarios and Cost Benefit Analysis tools.
  • Improving the client's asset data
  • Identifying innovation projects to compliment and evaluate strategic plans
  • Driving the asset investment strategy as a contribution towards the Gas Distribution's commitment to environmental safety, sustainability and achieving both government and regulatory targets.
  • Supporting the client's asset management best practice and ISO55001 accreditation.
  • Ensuring asset strategies are on track by monitoring internal and external environment to identify and qualify industry best practice.
  • Maximising business value and balancing risk exposure by making recommendations and remediation.

Background Screening:
You should be willing to undergo any screening checks carried out by the client. Once on site, you will need to undergo adhoc alcohol and drugs tests.
