Principal Engineer - Shock and Dynamics

Description:

This role will be working alongside experienced Engineers within the Shock and Dynamics team to help develop the analytical capability of the department. This role includes the creation, review and authorisation of calculations for structures and mounting arrangements.

The role would best suit an Experienced Chartered Engineer who enjoys detailed development of structural and mounting arrangement designs to meet challenging requirements (including naval shock, stiffness and operational loads). The role requires development of solutions that can be integrated into Submarine (or Naval platform) designs; accommodating a diverse range of cross-functional requirements and needing collaborative working methods to get to the best solution.

Requirements:

Essential:

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, General Engineering, Mathematics or Physics.

Experience with finite element analysis software

Experience with structural hand calculations

Critical:

Adaptable and willing to learn

Good level of communication skills

Ability to work alone or as part of a team

Capable of prioritising workload

Desirable:

Abaqus CAE or Patran FEA software experience

Experience with weld detailing and analysis

Experience with structural design codes (ie ASME boiler pressure vessel codes)
