Design Mechanical Engineer (District Heating Networks)- Nottingham - 6 months

A Design Mechanical Engineer (District Heating Networks) is required to join a client in the utilities industry based in Nottingham on an initial 6-month contract.

The client: Our client designs, builds and operates district heating schemes for commercial and residential customers.

The role: Here you will take the lead on the technical and engineering development of district heating schemes, ensuring the delivery of design against budgets.

You'll be involved throughout the project life cycle from initial consultation through to developing concept and detailed designs as well as providing technical support during construction and operation.

This is an exciting time to be part of the district heating market due to the implementation of new, low carbon technologies and regulatory changes.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for:

  • Managing the estimation and delivery of design on multiple projects to ensure design budgets are met.
  • The development of design and processes, specifications and procedures to enhance the efficiency of the design team.
  • Technical and engineering activities including; calculations, plant choice, systems and drawings
  • Coordinating with the electrical, district heating networks and city design teams.
  • Producing the project design documentation

Mandatory Skills

The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience of the following:

  • District Heating Network design and operations or Gas Distribution
  • UK mechanical engineering regulations and standards
  • CAD, AutoCAD, BIM and Revit
  • Energy Centre functionality, design and operation

You should also have Mechanical Engineering degree qualification.

Desirable Skills

  • Design Risk assessment, auditing, Construction Design and Management Regulations.
  • Hands-on experience of working with pressure system standards and control (PED)
  • A sound commercial understanding, business acumen and an awareness of cost.
  • Solid experience in Mechanical engineering project management and budgetary responsibility.
  • A good understanding of SAP calculation and regulation
  • Chartered Engineer
  • A full valid UK driving licence

Background Screening:

  • You should be willing to undergo any screening checks carried out by the client. Once on site, you will need to undergo adhoc alcohol and drugs tests
