RF System Test Engineer/RF Test Engineer
Location: Central London
Duration: Initially 3 months
Rate: Negotiable per hour
My rapidly expanding client urgently requires the services of an experienced RF System Test Engineer/RF Test Engineer to play a significant part in the test and development of a leading-edge SatCom phased array antenna system. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic London-based technology start-up that is transitioning from developing technology demonstrators to delivering complex and innovative products into the aerospace and maritime industries.
Technical Responsibilities:
* To work within the System Test team to perform RF testing and Array level functional tests of pre-production hardware sub-assemblies and system software
* Characterise and analyse the antenna system performance on both near field and far field RF test ranges
* Work closely with the hardware and software design teams to ensure effective support of the development programme
* Develop, test and improve mathematical algorithm
Qualifications & Skills:
Essential:
* Good Higher engineering/science honours degree in a relevant discipline
* Minimum 2-3 years in a relevant industry in a development or testing role
* General coding/Scripting experience in either MatLab, C, or VB
* Accurate, analytical and systematic approach of working and finding solutions to technical problems
* Experience in the use of RF test equipment
* Excellent team player with good communication and interpersonal skills
* A self-motivated individual able to take ownership of problems and finding solutions, and can adapt to a fast-moving environment
Desirable:
* Experience of testing RF systems above 6GHz
* Experience of using near field and far field antenna test ranges
* Experience in automated instrument control (GPIB, python)
* Knowledge of data modulations schemes
* Knowledge of GPS systems/positional algorithms
