For a big E-commerce client in Amsterdam, I am looking for a Backend Developer with good knowledge of Kafka and affinity with Distributed Systems.
This team will deal with high volume data for Customer Service and Fraud Detection. Tech keywords: Microservices, Kubernetes, Kotlin, Kafka, Cassandra/MySQL.
The goal of this project is to create a global pipeline for the customer service departments that this company has all over the world, for spotting frauds. They are using external tools and internal machine learning models. This is a greenfield project that started in April.
From the tech point of view, it will be event-based (using Kafka for message streaming), it will run on a private Kubernetes cluster and it will use Cassandra/MySQL as storage layer. The language will be Kotlin.
Since we're talking about a contract position, a required skill is Kafka. Experience with Distributed Systems and also High Availability and Scalability are a must. All the others tools mentioned are not as important and can be learned on the job.
