Consultant position description
We need an expert in Unified Communications, with experience in working out architecture and roadmaps (ie we are not looking for an operational expert, this is not a hands-on assignment).
The role will report to Program Manager for Future Digital Workplace Program and work closely with project manager for the Unified Communications project under this program.
Job description
The consultant shall work out a coherent, global roadmap for Unified Communications (UC), including communication channels for text, voice and video.
The starting point is that we already have a global infrastructure and service for Video Conferencing (using Office365:Skype for Business, Teams + a global service from Kinly) and for text (using Office365: Skype for Business, Teams, Yammer and more). But we don't have telephony integration into the above mentioned tools. Telephony solutions are local (at the company sites) and many different ones. Several sites are in an urgent need for replacing their existing telephony solution(s), and thus there is an urgency for this roadmap to be created. We (IT, central and global IT organization) do not want our sites to implement local solutions for the future if it is better to think globally, integrating telephony with UC.
Working out a roadmap with both a global architecture and an executable plan for implementation is the target for the consultant to do, not to actually execute on it (at least not in the first round). We are not starting from scratch (since we have solutions and services in place already), so we believe 2 months of work should be sufficient, cooperating closely with the IT expertise within the area. IT lacks the telephony part of the required competence, however, so it is important that the consultant covers this well, with extensive experience (in addition to experience with Unified Communications in large, global environments overall).
