IT System/Network Engineer
£230 per day 3 months rolling (Mostly remote working) - MUST have good understanding of Ekahau and Ekahau templating.
Based in London, this can be flexible (does not have to be every day) They need team meets regularly/weekly to kick things off so everyone is doing the same. Normal working hours.
Responsibilities include:
- Knowledge and experience with Cisco wireless LAN controllers, access points, Routers and Switches
- Possess background in wireless equipment, standards, protocols and WLAN design.
- Perform site surveys and assessments to identify areas for improvement and perform necessary troubleshooting
- Ability to perform troubleshooting of network issues including wireless connectivity, VoIP, routing, switching
- Provide timely and accurate operational support.
- Create and maintain end-to-end network documentation
- Ability to manage several complex tasks/projects simultaneously
- Good understanding of radio frequency and how it affects wireless communications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
You should be able to:
- Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.
- Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
- Secures network system by establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Accomplishes information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
- Reporting network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information; managing projects.
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
Ideally you will have experience in:
- Understands fundamentals of networking, including the OSI model, segmentation, routing, and common protocols and concepts
- Knowledge on how to configure Firewalls to define zones and policies.
- Knowledge and experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) and Cisco Prime Infrastructure
- Knowledge and experience using applications such as Ekahau, Airmagnet, Metageek.
- Good understanding of Ekahau and Ekahau templating
- Network Scripting experience (ie. Python, TCL, etc.)
- Work with preferred vendors to identify and assist in the selection of technology solutions.
- Understanding of networking protocols (eg, IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11,QoS)
- Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
- Minimum requirement CCNA
- Meraki knowledge is preferable
- Ekahau Certified Survey Engineer - ECSE (Desirable)
Must have Hardware requirements:
- Laptop with some horsepower as Ekahau is intensive. The software will be added to your laptop for free.
