Role Summary:

Working as part of our Product Engineering function, you will perform Value Engineering and Design to Cost (DTC) activities, assessing new and established Electro/Mechanical solutions ensuring products are defined with optimum cost in mind.

Specifically, you will be completing a holistic system wide evaluation, where you will be reviewing engineering designs, challenging electrical architecture and component selections. This is expected to also include reviewing material specifications and any associated tolerances to bolster full economic volume production, without compromising requirements.

This role will provide an active contribution to our manufacturing partners to ensure effective production processes are effectively implemented, bringing both capability and consistency within our manufacturing cells, including our global supply base.

This is an engineering role that will be required to have a high degree of collaboration, both with manufacturing, Quality and Supply Chain disciplines, including GE 's global Vendors and will be expected to build relationships and achieve demanding reoccurring cost targets.

This is a very new role for GE Aviation, requiring real dedication and focus to ensure demanding commercial targets can be accomplished.

Key Activities:

  • Value Engineering and Value Analysis.
  • Mechanical Design and development, using Siemens NX packages.
  • Comfortable using PLM solution and able to operate in safety critical environment.
  • Strong understanding Electro/Mechanical packaging of complex systems.
  • Wire definitions and electrical harness development techniques.
  • Design for manufacture.
  • Design for Assembly.
  • Supplier Development.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Deliver cost effective design solutions, on new and existing products.
  • Understand and evaluate cost drivers around performance, quality, reliability, and safety.
  • Assist Manufacturing and Sourcing support in cost out actions.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Degree in Mech/Prod Engineering.
  • 10 years' experience in design or manufacturing within a regulated or safety critical industry.
  • Strong CAD skills in NX or similar CAD package.
  • Experienced Engineer with a strong commercial awareness.

  • Commercial awareness and able to present project business cases, with ROI.
  • Understanding basic experience of Model Based Definition.
