I have been engaged by a large insurance company in Germany to secure a Hadoop Administrator.
You will join a small team of contractors, working on a Cloudera Hadoop cluster which is heavily used by a team of data scientists. Your primary responsibility will be servicing the cluster to keep it operational and fit for purpose. You should be comfortable operating, monitoring, backing up and maintaining Hadoop, as well problem solving and troubleshooting.
Key Skills:
o Cloudera
o Hadoop
o OS debugging in Unix (desirable)
o Operations know how in general is very important e.g. backing up, maintenance, monitoring tools and plugins
o Proactive personality
o Ability to detect early stage problems and problem solve
o Must be fluent in English. Fluent German is a plus.
o Must be available to do some work on site in Munich.
Preferred start date is early to mid-July.
