Enterprise Data Architect

One of my clients is urgently looking for a Enterprise Data Architect for a 6-12 month contract in Brussels, Belgium.

The Enterprise Data Architect will:

  • Develop and maintain an Enterprise Data Architectural Framework that will support the various enterprise data initiatives like data quality, data ownership, data system extensibility, industry data integration, integration with packaged applications (Cloud, COTS) and strategic systems planning.
  • Define an Enterprise Data Model including Domain Models, Conceptual Entity Model and Logical Model. The EDM has to be mapped with the Business Capability Map to create the common Functional Framework for NMBS/SNCB in order to establish the NMBS/SNCB Enterprise.
  • Create and maintain current- and target-state data architectures.
  • Define and manage standards, guidelines and processes to ensure Data Architecture quality and develop best practices, tooling, methods, standards, skills, documentation and training across the company.
  • Support the delivery of Enterprise Data Architecture deliverables through the provision of integrated DA services and design capabilities, including: owning the design, alignment, development, implementation and maintenance of complex data systems and solutions
  • Analyze business priorities & strategies and translate these into architecture requirements for the enterprise and act as authority for Enterprise Data Architecture and the business regarding strategic architecture decisions for the relevant business unit.
  • Participate actively in the development of Architecture Roadmaps and Blueprints (1-5 Year horizon) for all aspects related to Master Data Management
  • Engaging and building your network with business units' stakeholders to understand their needs in terms of Data Management. This includes close collaboration with NMBS/SNCB Master Data Management Officer.
  • Engaging and building your network with external architecture domain experts to remain up to date with latest trends and technologies and identify potential impact of market trends on the business

Requirements Profile:

  • A broad, enterprise-wide view of the business and varying degrees of appreciation for strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance
  • The ability to recognize structural issues within the organization, functional and data interdependencies and cross-silo redundancies
  • The ability to apply data architectural principles to business solutions
  • The ability to assimilate and correlate disconnected documentation and drawings, and articulate their collective relevance to the organization and to high-priority business issues
  • Experience using model-based representations that can be adjusted as required to collect, aggregate or disaggregate complex and conflicting information about the business
  • The ability to visualize and create an Enterprise Data Model that can be used in future analysis to extend and mature the Enterprise Data Architecture
  • Experience in modelling Conceptual Data models using a variety of tools and techniques
  • Very good communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organization; this includes written and verbal communications as well as visualizations
  • The ability to act as liaison between Business and IT
  • Team player able to work effectively at all levels of an organization with the ability to influence others to move toward consensus
  • Strong situational analysis and decision-making abilities
  • At least 7 years of experience in Enterprise, Data Architecture or Enterprise Architecture role is required
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of French or Dutch is a plus
