Senior Management Accountant - NHS - 3 months initially - Manchester - £180 a day via umbrella
You will be responsible for providing a wide range of accounting and budgetary support within a designated area of the NHS Organistaion's operations. Key duties include setting and agreement of annual budgets (financial plans) and monitoring of performance against financial plans through detailed analytical review and investigation of variances. The role will manage a team of management accountants.
This role will also support the Finance Business Partner and Head of Finance to provide a comprehensive budgetary control, financial planning and advisory service within a designated area of the Trust's operations to Service Directors and managers to enable the achievement of financial balance and participate in the business planning process and service developments.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Lead in the preparation of the Management Accounts for your Division and provide supporting management information being guided by SFIs, NHS Finance Policies, Budgetary Control Policy and Reporting Timetable.
To maintain controls and reconciliations to ensure the integrity of assessments, accruals and adjustments.
Provide accurate, timely, appropriate reporting and advice to enable budget holders to control their performance.
Provide a monthly narrative with an update on the financial performance of your designated area.
To investigate and interpret budget variances and trends using discretion to agree appropriate action with senior managers to avoid further overspends, and to develop recovery plans.
