Senior Java/Big Data Developer
My Client is a globally recognised financial organization that provides financial services and products to consumers, corporations and many other institutions internationally. They are currently seeking an expert Senior Java/Big Data Developer to join their growing development team. The successful candidate will have had exposure to Big Data technologies, and will assist in the build and maintenance of big data development solutions.

Responsibilities of the Senior Java/Big Data Developer role:
- You will be involved in the migration of the existing data warehouse solution in to the Java and Spark architecture.
- You will be tasked with creating a Data Ingestion and Transformation Framework, which will be used by the wider Data and Analytics group for building data pipelines.
- You will also be responsible for defining standards and best practices for the team in the areas of Code Standards, Unit Testing, Continuous Integration, and Release Management.
- You will act as a mentor to the junior developers in the team and get them up to speed in the Java, and Spark tech stack.
Required Experience and Skills for the Senior Java/Big Data Developer role:
- 5+ years of experience in designing and developing Java applications. Exposure to data ingestion frameworks, Spark, Apache kafka, in-memory databases and Hadoop eco system essential.
- A background in designing and developing high-quality Server Side processing in Java. An understanding of how to ensure these applications are robust, with easy to navigate code, and reusable components.
- Ability to create & implement data engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, documentation, build processes, automated testing, and operations.
- Knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
- Experience working in an agile team, practicing Scrum, Kanban or XP
