Senior Scala Developer

One of my market leading financial clients in Amsterdam is urgently seeking a Senior Scala Developer for a long-term contract paying excellent rates. If you like it, you will never have to leave.

The Senior Scala Developer will IDEALLY HAVE AT LEAST 65% of the following skills:

  • Experience with Java, Scala, sbt, Maven and Spring (Boot)
  • Experience with a modern Front End framework (eg Angular)
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling (at least Git and Jenkins)
  • Experience with the Agile/Scrum/Kanban way of working
  • Proficient in Dutch and/or English
  • (Linux) operations and automation skills"

The Senior Scala Developer will perform the following responsibilities:

  • You coach and help the team to the next level
  • You are open, you give and accept direct feedback
  • You have a focus on quality and challenge your colleagues (eg during peer reviews)
  • You speak up and challenge decisions (you ask why things are done instead of just doing them)
  • You have a strong interest and vision in recent trends in software development and technology in general. Ability to transfer this knowledge back.
  • A Realtime streaming engine based on Apache Flink implemented using Scala
  • Our Back End APIs are created with an internal Spring (Boot) based framework and run on virtualized hardware. The Front End is built using web components.
  • To comply with our regulators demands, our releases processes can feel bureaucratic from time to time. This means that you need to be a quick learner to understand them, and you need to have the ambition to improve and automate as much as possible.
