Description

HSBC are currently recruiting for an Senior Communications Manager based in the Media Relations and Campaigns team for Global Retail Banking and Wealth Management (RBWM). A new team, comprised of a Head of Media Relations and Campaigns, three senior managers and two managers has driven a shift change in the PR for the global retail business.

The Reporting to the Head of Media Relations and Campaigns for Global RBWM, the Senior Communications Manager will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the development and execution of effective proactive and reactive media relations to deliver unmissable results.
  • The focus of the role will be to deliver a proactive media relations strategy that is aligned to HSBC's commercial strategy; helps attract existing and new customers in core target segments; and differentiates HSBC's propositions in the external market.
  • The role holder will work with our roster of agency partners to create and deliver integrated, proactive campaigns to generate coverage across a wide range of global media to include personal finance, consumer lifestyle and social media. In particular, they will look at how they drive more news generation and consumer and lifestyle PR into RBWM's global external communications.
  • They will work closely with stakeholders across RBWM and Marketing to ensure the content developed can be used by frontline staff and in marketing assets, and with their counterparts in employee communications to bring our external stories to our colleagues across the bank.
  • The role will also include handling reputational media issues for the global business, as well as executive profiling and conference speech writing.
  • This role holder will work collaboratively with the wider RBWM communications network across the globe, supporting regional and country communications by providing great tools, guidance and content.

The Senior Communications Manager will have experience in:

  • PR experience gained either in agency or in a fast-moving, proactive in-house Press Office across a range of communications disciplines in a large corporate organisation or in a communications consultancy dealing with large corporates.
  • Impeccable relationship management skills and experience building strong stakeholder relationships at all levels, and in managing a wide range of internal stakeholder relationships, including by Matrix and virtually.
  • Exceptional media relations experience and a track record of delivering industry-leading work, especially consumer, business and personal finance (traditional and social) media and an ability to exploit this across mainstream media, regional, trade, TV and radio.
  • Comfortable working with and interpreting complex business data to create PR stories.
  • Existing network of media contacts with the ability to build and maintain new relationships.
  • Thrives working in a fast-paced Press Office with an ability to manage multiple projects and tight deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to understand business issues and devise communication solutions that deliver results, constructing fresh approaches where appropriate and making connections to other issues.
  • Able to work in an ambiguous environment, prioritise and reconcile competing demands and resolve complex issues.
  • Experience of managing PR agencies.
