Description

My Client runs several Legacy sites based on ASP.NET forms, and new sites utilising, MVC 5 and ASPnet Core technologies. They also run several apps across Android and IOS utilising Cordova. The MVC/Core applications makes use of AngularJS and AngularJS Materials, SASS and Gulp.

In addition they make use of Dev Ex Extreme Components (now Legacy) and the D3.js library. New ASPnet Core applications are written in C Sharp, while the older MVC 5 application utilise VB.NET.

The new MVC and ASPnet Core applications relate to an existing mature database and hence take a Database First approach (this is important), and run from SQL Server 2012. All extracts are through parameterised Stored Proc's. The new applications use ASP.NET identity (both 1 and 2.2).

Other than the Legacy sites, the MVC and ASP.NET Core applications have been re-platformed from and original Access Database application linked to a mature SQL Server database. While the Legacy systems exist there is limited opportunity to make changes to the existing database structure - and the applicant must be aware of this limitation. Code is managed by Github.

The systems are designed for use both within the organisation and across the supply chain, with 170 internal users and significantly more in the supply chain.

The applicant must have direct experience and use of all of the technologies listed below:

  • C Sharp
  • Vb.NET
  • Javascript
  • SASS
  • Gulp (understanding of the development limitations)
  • AngularJS )
  • AngularJS Materials
  • D3.js (both v3 and v4)
  • Cordova (Android and IOS)
  • MVC
  • ASP.NET Core (2.2)
  • SQL Server and in particular running web applications from Store Procedures
  • Familiarity with the use of Github

The candidate will be developing new applications and moving the Legacy sites across to new technologies.

Finally, they are constantly developing and adjusting its procedures/requirements, sometimes affecting business logic decisions. The database first approach allows for applications to be debugged and adjusted live with the SP's; the applicant must be aware of this approach and understand its implications.
